As reported in NZ Herald, front page story on this date. Details of their proposed bill not yet available. Maori Party says the bill is not to penalise smokers.

Further 10 December 2010 is given as the target date.

Appears to want a sales ban on all tobacco products.

SmokeLess New Zealand, a charitable trust, formed to promote the end of cigarettes sales.

Aims for phase-out of cigarette sales (and smoking tobacco) within ten years. Supportive policies for smokers needed to pave the way for sales phase-out.
